The 'House' on the Bridge!

The St Ives Bridge Chapel when it was used as a house!

This photograph was taken, upstream of the bridge on the far bank from the town, sometime between 1909 and 1937, showing the chapel with a second storey and being used as a dwelling. Another Postcard of this image has been found locally and is dated "21/08/1908"

Main span, arch detail

The main span of the bridge over the River Great Ouse at St Ives in Cambridgeshire

The main span of the St. Ives Bridge, this is the one which is 'navigable'. This image was taken just prior to recent restoration and maintenance works (August-October 2000, I am stood on the scaffolding which is being erected around the bridge and chapel). The little blue sign informs boat owners on which side to pass.
