Cats Protection is the oldest and largest cat charity in the UK.

The local branch for the area is the Chatteris, St Ives & District Branch.

We are primarily a rescue organization. Cats and kittens come to us for a variety of reasons - they may have been abandoned, left behind when their owners moved, their elderly owner may have died, a family member may have developed an allergy, their owners may have had to move to rented accommodation where pets are not allowed, or they may simply have lost interest in the cat and thrown it out. Whatever the reason, we do our utmost to help as many needy cats and kittens as possible. This also includes Feral cats.

Apart from the rescue and re-homing part of our work, we also encourage neutering, and provide an information service to the public. The branch is responsible for raising the funds necessary to carry out our vital work - how many cats are helped depends on how much money we are able to raise. The cats and kittens that come into our care are often in a terrible condition and require extensive veterinary treatment, which can often be very expensive.
