The St Ives Remembrance Service

"For our tomorrow they gave their today"

Each year at around 10.30 on the second Sunday of November as in other cities, towns and villages across the United Kingdom the people of St Ives will gather to remember the debt we owe to the fallen warriors who gave their lives to protect our freedom.

The townsfolk will be joined at the War Memorial by the Mayor and Councillors of St Ives, representatives of the Armed Forces from RAF Wyton and an officer of the US Air Force from Mildenhall or Lakenheath, the Members of the St Ives Branch of the Royal British Legion and the towns uniformed youth groups.

A short service is held and at the hour of 11.00 sharp a Bugler will sound the "Last Post" from the balcony of the Town Hall overlooking Market Hill and the War Memorial.

At the end of the service the Mayor of St Ives will lay a wreath on the War Memorial on behalf of the people of St Ives which is then followed by those of the other organisations attending the service.
