The Riverside Tearooms are located within one of the oldest buildings in town, a pretty Grade II* Manor House, on Bridge Street. As its’ name suggests the Tearooms enjoy a fantastic riverside setting, located adjacent to the famous and historic St Ives Bridge Chapel which spans the river Ouse.
We are open every day and in the summer customers can sit and relax on our riverside terraces and enjoy the boating and wildlife activity on the river. We offer a range of speciality coffees and of course stock a wide variety of loose-leaf teas including favourite''s Earl Grey and Darjeeling. We are proud of our homemade cake selection such as Victoria Sponge and Coffee and Walnut.
We are well known for our Cream Teas and High Teas with our scones freshly baked each morning on the premises. All sandwiches, toastie’s and Panini''s are made fresh to order and we source local ingredients whenever possible. One of our specialities is the succulent ham we use, which is produced by Mr Williams of Manor Farm, Glatton, Huntingdonshire.
We welcome children and offer “A Tiddlers Menu” providing healthy options for them. We also try to accommodate special dietary requirements where possible.
At lunchtime we have a regular following of customers for takeout lunches and we regularly take group booking for parties requiring breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. We have arranged group events combining a riverboat trip with the St Ives Electric River boat with a cream tea, and breakfasts with early morning bird watching cruises.
The business has been owned and operated by Suzy Dell a local business entrepreneur, since November 2006. Suzy, spotted a big gap in the market for a tea room serving decent tea, coffee, high quality homemade cakes, scones and lunches. Suzy refurbished the premises successfully retaining the old fashioned “shabby chic/Kath Kitson” feel.
Suzy now has a home baking team led by Lucy, with 2 apprentices Tom and Lydia who do a lot of the cooking and baking. Scones are baked fresh each morning and we have Victoria Sponge and Coffee and Walnut cakes made by Lucy. Lydia specialises in cupcakes, cookies and seasonal specialities such as Christmas Cakes.
Michelle is the Manageress and Linda Assistant Manageress. Michelle had her own sandwich round a few years ago. Finally, there is Nicki, known to all our regulars has worked on the premises for ever including two previous owners!
This year we were delighted to be accepted as member of the UK Tea Guild which is highly acclaimed and requires that members offer very high standards of food and service.
