Warner's Park was given to the people of the town of St Ives in 1905 by William Warner to be used as a place of recreation and a venue for outdoor services, shows and fairs. The area of land occupied by the park was once part of the agricultural 'closes' shown on the Pettis Parish map of 1728. One can easily make out the ridges and furrows in the land surface of the park that result from this type of Medieval Strip Farming.
William Warner was a resident of the town, his old house is now the Town Hall, and in addition to holding office as a councillor on St Ives Borough Council for a long period of time, William was Mayor of the borough on four occasssions.
Warner's Park is managed by St Ives Town Council and is used as the main venue of the St Ives Carnival and Music Festival held annually in early July.
