A Country House, origianlly a medieval nunnery converted by the Cromwell family in the 16th Century and later extended by the Earls of Sandwich. Medieval remains of the nunnery once concealed wihtin the walls of the later house can be seen. Links with Oliver Cromwell, Samuel Pepys, and the inventor of the common place "sandwich".
