Councillor Kevin Reynolds, Chairman of Huntingdon District Council accompanied by special guest "Rupert the Bear". Councillor Reynolds looks pleased with himself as he rightly can after some 280 persons almost packed the Burgess Hall on Friday 6th October for the "Chairman's Charity Ball"
Rupert was one of the raffle prizes aimed at raising funds for the MRI Scanner Appeal for Hinchingbrooke Hospital but Rupert was not the only money magnet as prizes ranged from bottles of wine to the Mini Cooper pictured on the right
The evening commenced with a Champagne Reception during entertainment provided by St. Ivo School Choir. This was followed by the opening address and a superb five course dinner, the quality of which was commendable considering the number of guests
After a short address by Councillor Reynolds where he explained the purpose of the evening - "Give us your money!" The tone of the evening alternated between dancing to music provided by "The Julie Cooper Band" and various fund raising events.
The overall result was most impressive with the event going on into the early hours of Saturday morning. Councillor Reynold's and his staff must be congratulated on a job well done. We will report back at a later stage on just how much money was raised for the Scanner Appeal
