A montage of photographs taken at the Twilight Flying at The Raptor Foundation, St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

On Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August 2003, the Webmaster (and the Webwife!) visited the Raptor Foundation for a unique experience to watch the Raptors flying at sunset. The barbeque that was being held afterwards was another "attraction" but more of that later. As can easily understood from the atmospheric photographs above this was really a most unusual and entertaining evening, we were treated to a spectacular display from the raptors who at this time of the evening were really coming to life!

The antive British Owl, twilight flying at the Raptor Foundation, St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

The evening started with a display from a selection of small native British Owls and then moved on to a particularly non-camera shy hawk, see below, who wanted really to have his picture taken...

A cheeky little Harris Hawk, who wants to be a film star!

All to quickly the evening the night drew on, but the action was actually hotting up. Notice the people 'in camera', visitors are actually encouraged to join in and if you want to "have a go" you are most welcome. For me it was a photographers dream. These are only selection of the 81 pictures I took that evening - I shall most certainly be going again.

If you wish to have a similar experience then make contact with the Raptor Foundation, they would love to hear from you. You'll have a great time and when it's all over a nice hot cup of coffee and a simple, but most welcome, barbeque awaits.
