The nearest British Rail Station (Huntingdon) to the 2007 IWA River Festival & Boat Show is at Huntingdon six miles by road from the site. Huntingdon Station is on the East Coast Main Line between London, Kings Cross and Edinburgh.
There are local bus services that interconnect from the train station to the bus station in Huntingdon about 1/2 mile apart. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station to the bus station if you are feeling energetic.
There are regular bus services from Huntingdon Bus Station to St Ives Bus Station about every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every hour on Sunday. These buses are operated by Huntingdon & District Bus Company and the Whippet Bus Company. Check with the operators for services on the Bank Holiday Monday.
You will also find a taxi rank at Huntingdon Station (the taxis turn up when the trains arrive). It will cost you (one person) around £10 from Huntingdon to St Ives.
Buses between Cambridge and St Ives again every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every hour on Sundays by the operators listed above. Again check with the operators for services on the Bank Holiday Monday. The journey time can take around an hour or more depending upon traffic conditions on the A14.
It is a 10 minute walk through the town centre from the St Ives Bus Station to the River Festival site.
The nearest National Coach Station is in Cambridge operated by National Express. From there it would be best to use the above bus services to connect to St Ives. A taxi from Cambridge to St Ives can cost between £20-£30 depending upon the time of day and number of passengers.
