The River Great Ouse2007 IWA National Festival and Boat ShowAugust Bank Holiday Weekend 25th-27th AugustThis section of the St Ives Town Web is being created to support the 2007 IWA National Festival and Boat Show which is being held here in August on Hemingford Meadows, St Ives.
We are publishing here the history of the river including a number of old photographs, maps of the river and maps of the local area. If you are visiting the town for the festival you will also find links to hotel and guest house accommodation, restaurants and cafes, public houses and many other things to do and see during you stay. The Town Centre of St Ives, pictured above, is situated only 1000m from the location of the 2007 IWA National Festival and Boat Show on Hemingford Meadow. St Ives August 2007 Bank Holiday MarketOn the Bank Holiday Monday 27th August the town will also host the 'normal' massive Bank Holiday Market and the whole of the town centre and side streets will fill with traders stalls. This is one of the largest public markets in the whole of the country and has been held in St Ives every bank holiday for the last 900 years. Car Parking for the River Festival and Bank Holiday MarketSee below for parking instructions because there will be absolutely no chance of you parking anywhere near the town centre. The Environment Agency are predicting 30,000 visitors will attend over the weekend with around 600 boats on the river. 248 boats are booked in already (March 2007). Parking instructions for Festival VisitorsThere will be FREE parking for festival visitors very close to the show ground (SEE MAP) however if you visit on Monday 27th August you will be required to pay £5 per car upon arrival to use the car park. This will be refunded when you buy your entrance tickets to the festival. Directions to the festival car park will be sign posted from the A14 exit to St Ives. Parking instructions for the St Ives Bank Holiday MarketThose persons visiting St Ives for the Bank Holiday Market on Monday 27th August should use the normal town parking areas and off-street parking. Please park sensibly in the town and be aware that due to the expected high numbers of visitors there will be a heavy Police presence throughout the day
