St. Ives in Cambridgeshire

The ancient town of Slepe in the old county of Huntingdonshire

Latest alterations and additions on this website

Here we let you know what are the latest things we have added to the site or which older items have been amended. The information in the box below is in reverse chronological order so that the newest item is at the top.

This site is nearly 15 years old having started off its life as a personal web on CompuServe, then for a couple of years it was hosted on the domain www.stives-slepe.net before moving to its current domain www.stives-town.info because that is what it is "information about the town of St Ives". This record of change has been reset as part of the major renovation that commenced in July 2008 when the site was converted to XHTML and ASP (Active Server page). Not all this work is yet complete, we expect that to take until Christmas 2008.

New Databases

 23/10/2008

Progress on the site update has gone well and we have now moved the prototype databases into their new home. We can now get on with creating the Logon section to allow managers and owners to update their own information

New Pages

 28/07/2008

Regular visitors will notice there has been some massive changes to this website and they are not all finished yet by a long way. All the major pages about locations in St Ives, that is everything from the Burgess Civic Centre to the smallest shop, the businesses, clubs, groups and associations that operate in them and the events that are organised in and by them have all new pages and what is more they all are linked together.

What's even better is that the St Ives Town Album is now also linked to every business, club, group or assocation and to all the locations and venues in the town too. This makes the whole site a lot more easy to manage and that means we can make it MUCH BIGGER.

We have also added over 150 brand new high-definition pictures of the town in addition to all the small ones that we have taken of the shops and businesses and we still have over 200 that still need to be published. We'll get them on the site as soon as we can but whilst the weather holds we're taking some more.
